Punjab reign supreme in sub-junior softball Nationals

Punjab won both the boys and girls titles in the 22nd Sub-junior National Softball Championship, which concluded at SCS College in Puri today. In the finals, Punjab girls routed Kerala 14-4, while their boys edged out Manipur 8-5.

Softball Association of India (SAI) president Rana Gurmit Singh gave away the trophies in the presence of secretary general Pravin Anokar, host Softball Association of Orissa (SAO) president Deepak Gouda and secretary Debendra Sahoo.

Around 600 boys and girls from 22 states took part in the six-day championship. SAO president Gouda announced that Orissa girl Jyoti Prava Das had been selected to represent the country in the Junior Girls Asian Softball Championship to be held at Kuala Lumpur from December 15.
